# Scan the chart you're about to trade, not the whole market.

> Screenshot a stock, forex, crypto, or futures chart from TradingView, thinkorswim, Webull, MetaTrader, or any broker and upload it. The AI chart scanner reads the trend, key levels, candles, indicators, and volume on that one chart, then tells you whether the setup is worth taking, worth waiting for, or worth skipping.

## What is an AI chart scanner?

An AI chart scanner reads a screenshot of one trading chart and reports what the setup looks like: trend, support and resistance, candles, indicators, and volume. SnapPChart scans the image you upload, picks long or short, grades the setup, and makes one call: take the trade, wait for a pullback, or skip it. It does not scan the market for tickers.

The word scanner gets used for two different tools. A market scanner, or stock screener, filters thousands of symbols by price, volume, gaps, and news and hands you a list of tickers. A chart scanner starts where that list ends: you pick one chart and it checks whether the setup on it holds up. The scan runs the same checklist every time, so a B on Monday means what a B meant on Friday. Stock charts are graded from A+ to F. Forex, crypto, metals, index, and futures charts are capped at B, because the momentum rules behind the grade were built on stock behavior. Your first grade is free and shows the setup's grade and the general read. Entry, stop, targets and the trade plan come with a paid plan.

## A chart scanner and a market scanner answer different questions

Most traders who search for a scanner want one of two things. Here is which is which, and where SnapPChart fits.

### Market scanner: Which tickers are moving right now?

A market scanner or stock screener watches a whole universe of symbols and filters it by price, volume, gap size, float, or news. It is how you build a watchlist. It does not tell you whether the setup on any one of those charts is clean.

### Chart scanner: Is the setup on this chart worth the risk?

An AI chart scanner looks at one chart image and reads the structure, levels, candles, indicators, and volume on it. SnapPChart is this kind. You choose the chart, and the scan tells you how well it lines up for a continuation trade.

### Both: Scan the market first, then scan the chart

Let your market scanner or watchlist find the candidates. Then screenshot the two or three you are actually thinking about and scan those before you size anything. The first step finds movers. The second filters out the ones that only look good at a glance.

### Limits: Where each one stops

A market scanner stops at the list, without knowing whether any one chart on it is clean. A chart scanner stops at the edge of the screenshot: no live price, no news or earnings, no order book, and nothing outside the frame.

## What you can run through the AI chart scanner

If you can screenshot it, you can scan it. The scanner reads the picture, not a data feed, so the platform does not matter.

### Markets: Stocks, ETFs, forex, crypto, and futures

The scan reads any candlestick chart the same way. On forex it treats volume as tick volume and pays attention to round numbers. Only the grade scale changes: stocks use the full A+ to F range, everything else tops out at B.

### Platforms: Any charting platform or broker app

TradingView, thinkorswim, Webull, MetaTrader, Robinhood, NinjaTrader, or your broker's own charts all work. Upload a PNG, JPG, WebP, or GIF up to 10 MB.

### Timeframes: From 1-minute scalps to daily swing charts

It reads the timeframe from the label on the chart, so keep the label in the frame. It only sees the candles on screen, so if the higher timeframe trend matters, scan that chart as well.

### Direction: Long and short setups

The scan follows the trend that is already on the chart: a long in an uptrend, a short in a downtrend. A chart chopping sideways, or one that just turned against its trend, gets no direction and a skip instead of a forced call.

## What comes back from a scan

Each scan ends in the same four things, so you can compare one chart against the next.

### A Grade and One Call

A setup grade and score, then one call: take the trade, wait for a pullback, or skip it. A skip says what is missing, such as thin reward or messy structure.

### Levels to Trade Against

On full analyses, an entry at a level the scan found (the 9 or 20 EMA, VWAP, or a broken high), a structural stop on the far side of it, two targets, and the reward-to-risk.

### The Case Against

Key concerns and a bear case spell out what would break the setup beyond the stop, so the scan argues both sides before you commit.

### The Same Checklist Every Time

Every scan runs the same checks in the same order. Your own read changes when you are down on the day. The scan does not.

## How to run an AI chart scan

The scanner can only read what the screenshot shows. A minute of setup before you capture it makes the scan sharper.

- Find candidates with your market scanner or watchlist first
- Open the chart on the timeframe you plan to trade
- Keep the symbol, timeframe label, and volume panel in the frame
- Plot the 9 and 20 EMA, VWAP, and MACD if you trade with them
- Scan the higher timeframe separately when the bigger trend matters
- Read the case against the trade before you look at the targets

## An AI chart scanner vs a market scanner

They are built for different steps, and most active traders end up using both. A market scanner tells you where to look. A chart scanner tells you whether what you found is worth the risk.

| Feature | SnapPChart | Market scanner / stock screener |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Searches the market for tickers that are moving | No, you bring the chart | Its main job |
| Alerts when a symbol hits your filters | No alerts | Usually built in |
| Grades the setup on one specific chart | Grade and score on every scan | Some show a buy/sell rating, not a chart read |
| Reads structure, levels, and candles from the chart itself | From the screenshot | Filters on numbers, not the picture |
| Makes one call: take it, wait for a pullback, or skip it | One call per chart | Leaves the call to you |
| Entry, stop, and targets tied to a level on the chart | On full analyses | Not part of a screen |
| Works with charts from any platform | Any screenshot | Inside its own data and charts |

## What do traders ask about AI chart scanners?

How a scan works, what it reads, and what it will not do.

### How does an AI chart scanner work?

In two passes. First a vision model reads your screenshot and writes down only what it sees: the swing highs and lows, the nearest support and resistance zones, what each plotted indicator is doing, the volume pattern, and the timeframe label. It is told not to judge anything yet. Then a second pass scores those facts against a fixed list of confirmations, warnings, and disqualifiers, and that score becomes the grade. Splitting the two keeps an opinion from leaking into what the scanner says it saw.

### Is there a free AI chart scanner?

Yes. New accounts get one free grade. You see the setup's grade and the general read on your chart. Entry, stop, targets and the trade plan come with a paid plan. No card needed to try it. That is enough to see how the scan reads one of your own charts.

### Does it scan the whole market for setups?

No. It does not search a list of tickers, watch symbols in the background, or send alerts when something sets up. It scans the one chart you upload, at the moment you upload it. Pair it with whatever market scanner or watchlist you already use: that finds the movers, this checks the chart you picked.

### Can it scan for chart patterns?

For the patterns the grading rules use, yes. It looks for bull and bear flags, pullbacks into a moving average or VWAP, a break and retest of a prior level, and cup and handle on long setups, and it scores eight candlestick signals by name, such as engulfing candles, hammers, and shooting stars. It does not classify every textbook shape, so triangles, wedges, head and shoulders, and double tops are not named in the result, although the swings and levels that form them still show up in the read.

### Can I scan forex, crypto, and futures charts?

Yes. The scan reads those charts the same way it reads a stock chart, and on forex it treats volume as tick volume. The grade is capped at B on forex, crypto, metals, index, and futures charts, because the momentum rules behind the score were built on stock behavior. Stock charts use the full A+ to F range.

### Which apps can I scan charts from?

Any of them, because the scanner reads the picture rather than connecting to the platform. TradingView, thinkorswim, Webull, MetaTrader, Robinhood, NinjaTrader, and broker charts all work. Keep the price axis, the timeframe label, and the volume panel visible, and crop out anything that covers the candles.

### Is a scan result a buy or sell signal?

No. The grade measures how well the evidence on the chart lines up for a continuation trade. It is not a forecast, and a well-graded setup can still fail. You place and manage trades through your own broker. SnapPChart does not execute orders, locate shares, or check borrow fees or margin availability.

### What happens if part of the chart is cut off?

The scan works with what is in the frame. If the volume panel is cropped, volume is marked as missing and treated as neutral rather than weak, but you lose one of the strongest inputs to the grade. If only a handful of candles fit on screen, there may not be enough swing highs and lows to call a trend, and the scan leans toward a skip.
