# See whether your bullish Cypher's D actually held on the XC retracement before you trade the bounce.

> Once a bullish Cypher has completed at D on the 78.6% retracement of the XC leg with a confirmation signal already printed, upload the screenshot and get a read on whether that turn is holding, whether a genuine uptrend has followed with higher highs and higher lows, what the volume looks like, and a full trade plan. A Cypher that has only just tagged the XC-based completion zone and one that has already turned into a confirmed uptrend are not the same chart, and grading them the same way would miss the point of the pattern entirely.

## What is a bullish Cypher pattern, and can AI grade it?

Darren Oglesby designed the bullish Cypher, a five-point XABCD harmonic reversal where C stretches past point A instead of retracing inside it, and D completes on a 78.6% retracement of the entire XC leg rather than XA. SnapPChart grades the confirmed bounce after D turns, not the raw tag of that completion zone.

The Cypher keeps the same five labeled points as a Gartley or a Butterfly, X, A, B, C, and D, but changes how the back half of the structure behaves. The first leg runs from X to A, then B corrects that decline by retracing somewhere between 38.2% and 61.8% of XA, the same range a Gartley's B allows, so that ratio alone doesn't tell you which pattern you're looking at. What sets the Cypher apart starts at C: rather than pulling back inside the original XA swing the way a Gartley's C does, the Cypher's C leg pushes 127.2% to 141.4% past point A itself, an extension, not a retracement, and that overshoot is the pattern's first tell. The second tell, and the one worth remembering if you only remember one thing about this pattern, is where D gets measured from. A Gartley's D sits near a 78.6% retracement of the original XA leg. A Butterfly's D projects beyond X entirely. A Shark skips the fifth point altogether and resolves at C instead of D. The Cypher does none of that: D lands at a 78.6% retracement of the XC leg, the swing running from the extension high at C back down toward X, an entirely different measurement than the XA-based math every other harmonic pattern on this site uses. Get that leg wrong on your chart and the completion zone you've drawn isn't measuring a Cypher at all. The stop belongs beyond X, the same invalidation rule as the rest of the harmonic family, since a break past X means the XABCD count failed. None of this is meant to be traded the instant price tags that XC retracement, either, and that caution isn't just SnapPChart being conservative: the pattern's own trading literature calls for a confirmation signal first, a reversal candlestick, bullish divergence on an oscillator, or a break of the trendline guarding the decline into D, before treating the zone as a long. SnapPChart holds to that same rule. It will not call the turn at D or grade a chart the moment price arrives at the 78.6% XC level with nothing else showing; that reads as a decline still in progress, not a setup. What earns a grade is the pullback that forms after a confirmation signal has printed at D and a fresh uptrend, higher highs stacked on higher lows, is already underway. Feed it a screenshot with the X, A, B, C, and D points and their Fibonacci labels marked using your own charting platform's tools, the confirmation signal visible, and the new uptrend in view, and it reads that structure back: the ratios, whether the reversal actually held, the volume behind the move, then a setup grade, an entry on the pullback, a stop beyond X, multiple targets, and the case against the trade. It does not plot the XABCD points itself, calculate any of the retracement or extension math, scan charts looking for Cyphers, or decide that D has turned. That reading is entirely yours to do on the chart before you upload it.

## What the AI Returns From a Screenshot

Use the output as a repeatable pre-trade checkpoint, not a prediction.

### A-F Setup Grade

See whether the setup has enough pattern clarity, momentum, volume, and reward to justify the risk.

### Entry, Stop, Targets

Get a structured trade plan with entry zone, invalidation level, targets, and risk/reward.

### Screenshot-Based Read

Use charts from TradingView, Webull, ThinkOrSwim, MetaTrader, Robinhood, or any broker.

### Risk Notes First

The analysis flags extension, messy chop, weak retests, thin reward, and conflicting indicators.

## Confirm the XC-based turn at D before you trade the pullback

A lot of Cypher setups stall right at D: the confirmation signal never shows, price keeps drifting past the 78.6% retracement of XC without turning, or the uptrend that's supposed to follow never stacks higher highs. SnapPChart checks whether this particular Cypher has actually confirmed before you commit capital to the pullback that comes next.

- Plot X, A, B, C, and D, confirming C extended 127.2% to 141.4% past A rather than pulling back inside it, then label the Fibonacci ratios at each leg
- Measure D as a 78.6% retracement of the XC leg, not the XA leg, and screenshot the full structure once that zone is marked
- Look for a confirmation signal at D, a reversal candle, bullish divergence, or a broken trendline, before treating the zone as anything more than a level to watch
- Check whether a new uptrend has actually started off D, with higher highs stacking on higher lows
- Read the volume behind the move away from D: real conviction or a thin, unconvincing push
- Grade the first pullback inside that confirmed uptrend, never the raw tag of the XC-based completion zone

## SnapPChart vs a general AI chat assistant for bullish Cypher setups

Drop a chart into a general AI chat assistant and ask about a Cypher, and you'll get an opinion, not a checklist: it might notice the XABCD shape, but it won't reliably confirm that C actually extended past A instead of retracing inside it, that D landed on the 78.6% retracement of the XC leg rather than XA, or that a confirmation signal printed before treating the zone as tradeable. SnapPChart runs one fixed check on every chart uploaded: the five marked points and their ratios, whether a reversal signal has shown up at D, and whether trend structure and volume back the move, and it only grades the pullback that follows a confirmed turn, never the raw tag of the completion zone.

| Feature | SnapPChart | General AI chat assistant |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Checks that C extended 127.2%-141.4% past A rather than retracing inside XA | Yes, every upload | Inconsistent |
| Verifies D sits on the 78.6% retracement of the XC leg, not XA | From the image | Rarely checked |
| Requires a confirmation signal at D before calling the setup tradeable | By design | Often guesses the reversal |
| Grades only the pullback after the confirmed turn, not the approach into D | Every grade | Rarely |
| Flags an unconfirmed Cypher: no signal, loose ratios, still stretching toward D | Every bear case | Rarely flagged |
| Builds entry, a stop beyond X, and targets from the confirmed move | Yes | Prompting required |
| Applies the identical checklist to every bullish Cypher uploaded | Fixed methodology | Varies by session |

## What do traders ask about Bullish Cypher AI?

How SnapPChart grades a bullish Cypher from your screenshot.

### Does the AI call the reversal at point D?

No, and that holds for every harmonic pattern on this site. The grade only switches on once a confirmation signal, a reversal candle, bullish divergence, or a broken trendline, has already printed at D and a new uptrend has started stacking higher highs on higher lows. A chart still pressing down toward the 78.6% retracement of XC, or one that just tagged it with nothing else confirming, reads as an open decline, not a setup.

### How does the AI grade a bullish Cypher?

It works from what's marked on your screenshot: the X, A, B, C, and D points, the Fibonacci ratios labeled at each leg, whether a confirmation signal printed at D, whether a fresh uptrend is underway, and the volume behind it. From there it grades the pullback that forms once that uptrend is confirmed, not the pattern's raw completion, and returns a grade, an entry on that pullback, a stop beyond X, and profit targets. A Cypher where C cleanly extended 127.2% to 141.4% past A, D landed right on the XC retracement, and a confirmation signal fired outgrades one where the ratios are loose or nothing has confirmed yet.

### Why does the Cypher measure D off the XC leg instead of XA?

Because that's the one calculation a Cypher does differently from every other pattern SnapPChart grades. A Gartley's D sits near a 78.6% retracement of the original XA leg. A Butterfly's D projects past X instead of retracing inside anything. A Shark skips a fifth point and resolves at C. The Cypher does none of that: after C extends past A, D is measured as a 78.6% retracement of the XC leg itself, the swing from that extension high back toward X, not from the pattern's starting leg. Get that leg wrong on your chart and the zone you've drawn isn't measuring a Cypher completion at all.

### Does the AI calculate the Fibonacci ratios or auto-detect the XABCD points?

No. It doesn't scan a feed for Cypher setups, work out the XC retracement or the AB and CD ratios on its own, auto-detect the five swing points, or decide that D has turned. You draw the X, A, B, C, and D points and label every ratio with your charting platform's own Fibonacci tools, screenshot the chart with the confirmation signal and the new uptrend visible, then upload it. The AI grades only what's in that image: the marked structure, the labeled ratios, the confirmation signal, and the volume.

### Can it tell a confirmed bullish Cypher from one still unconfirmed at D?

That call shows up in the bear case. No confirmation signal yet, price still stretching toward the XC retracement, higher highs failing to form, or a reversal riding on weak volume all pull the grade down, and the trade plan says outright that the pattern hasn't confirmed. A clean confirmation signal at D, a real uptrend printing, and volume picking up behind it push the grade the other way.

### Does it grade the bearish Cypher too?

Yes, as the mirror image. A bearish Cypher forms C as an extension below A instead of above it, with D completing at a 78.6% retracement of that same XC leg, and it's expected to lead into a decline rather than an advance. SnapPChart applies the identical rule in both directions: no call on the high at D, no shorting the zone the moment price arrives, and a grade only once a bearish confirmation signal, such as an evening star or a bearish divergence, has printed and a new downtrend is stacking lower highs and lower lows. One page covers both directions under that same rule.

### What should be on the chart before I screenshot it?

Mark the five points, X, A, B, C, and D, and label the Fibonacci retracement and extension percentages on each leg, especially the XC retracement that D sits on, using your platform's own tools. The candles, timeframe, price scale, and volume all need to be visible, along with the confirmation signal at D and whatever uptrend has followed it. A chart with only the XABCD points marked and no confirmation signal yet leaves nothing for the AI to grade as a continuation.

### Is there a free trial for bullish Cypher grading?

Yes. Every new user gets two chart analyses for life, free. The first returns the full output so you can see exactly what a bullish Cypher grade looks like end to end, and the second is partially gated to show what upgrading adds. No card required to try it.
