AI for inside bar setups

Grade the inside bar before you trade the break.

Upload a chart with an inside bar at a key level and get a read on whether the bar is a coiled continuation or a stalling reversal, whether the mother bar is tight or loose, whether the break lines up with the trend, the volume, and a full trade plan, so a clean inside bar at a level and a random bar in the middle of nowhere do not get judged the same way.

MOTHER BAR

The prior bar whose range contains the inside bar

INSIDE BAR

The contained bar, the coiled spring you screenshot

BREAK

Whether the break lines up with the trend direction

VOLUME

Whether the break came on conviction or thin volume

Quick answer

What is an inside bar, and can AI grade it?

An inside bar is a candle whose high is lower than the prior bar's high and whose low is higher than the prior bar's low, so its entire range is contained inside the previous mother bar. It signals compression, a coiled spring after a move or at a key level, and the standard play is to enter on the break of the mother bar (or the inside bar) high or low in the direction of the prevailing trend, with the stop on the opposite side of the mother bar. It is a continuation setup most of the time but can be a reversal at a strong level. SnapPChart grades that exact setup from the chart you upload: it reads the mother bar range, the inside bar contained within it, the level the bar formed at, the trend leading in, the breakout direction, and the volume, then returns a setup grade, an entry on the break, a structural stop on the other side of the mother bar, multi-target exits, and the bear case. It reads the inside bar off your screenshot, not a live feed, and it does not scan for inside bars, plot or draw the bar for you, read live price, stream the tape, or predict the next candle. You mark the inside bar, screenshot the chart, and upload it, and the same checklist runs every time so a tight inside bar after a strong trend leg and a wide bar against the trend get judged the same way.

What the AI Returns From a Screenshot

Use the output as a repeatable pre-trade checkpoint, not a prediction.

A-F Setup Grade

See whether the setup has enough pattern clarity, momentum, volume, and reward to justify the risk.

Entry, Stop, Targets

Screenshot-Based Read

Use charts from TradingView, Webull, ThinkOrSwim, MetaTrader, Robinhood, or any broker.

Risk Notes First

The analysis flags extension, messy chop, weak retests, thin reward, and conflicting indicators.

Workflow

Use it as a quality check on the inside bar

Plenty of inside bars fail when the bar sits at no real level, the mother bar is loose, or the break goes against the trend. SnapPChart gives you a consistent read on whether this inside bar is a coiled continuation before you trade the break.

  • Mark the inside bar and screenshot the chart with the mother bar visible
  • Check whether the inside bar formed at a clean key level or in the middle of nowhere
  • Confirm the break direction lines up with the prevailing trend
  • Read whether the mother bar is tight and coiled or wide and loose
  • Re-grade after the break to see if it cleared with volume or stalled
  • Skip the trade when the grade flags an against-trend or no-level inside bar

Head to head

SnapPChart vs a general AI chat assistant for inside bar setups

A general AI tool can tell you a candle is an inside bar, but it will not judge whether the bar is a coiled continuation or a stalling reversal at the level, or whether the break is in the trend direction, to the same standard twice. SnapPChart reads the mother bar range, the inside bar contained within it, the level it formed at, and the breakout direction the same way on every screenshot you upload.

Inside Bar AI FAQ

How SnapPChart grades an inside bar from your screenshot.

How does the AI grade an inside bar?

It reads the mother bar range and the inside bar contained within it, the level the bar formed at, and the trend leading in. It factors the breakout direction and the volume into the grade, then returns a setup grade, an entry on the break, a structural stop on the other side of the mother bar, and targets. A tight inside bar after a strong trend leg or at a clean key level, breaking in the trend direction, grades higher than a wide bar against the trend at no real level.

Does SnapPChart auto-detect or scan for inside bars, or read live price?

No. It does not scan a feed for inside bars, plot or draw the bar for you, watch the tape, or predict the next candle. You identify and mark the inside bar, then screenshot and upload that chart, and the AI grades the structure it can see in the image: the mother bar range, the inside bar contained within it, the level, the trend, the break direction, and the volume. The grade reflects the picture you give it.

Does it read the inside bar live or from the screenshot?

From the screenshot. It reads the inside bar that is on the chart you upload, not a live feed and not a price calculation. Mark the inside bar and the mother bar around it so both are visible, then screenshot and upload. If the mother bar and the inside bar are not both in frame, the grade has nothing to read the containment against.

Can it tell a continuation inside bar from a stalling reversal?

It calls out the risk in the bear case. If the chart shows the inside bar against the trend, sitting at no real level, formed inside a very wide and loose mother bar, or breaking on thin volume, the grade drops and the trade plan flags that the continuation thesis is weaker. A tight inside bar after a strong trend leg or at a clean level, breaking in the trend direction, grades better.

What should be on the chart before I screenshot it?

Make sure the mother bar and the inside bar contained within it are both visible, along with the candles, timeframe, price scale, and volume. Marking the key level the bar formed at helps, since the read is about whether the inside bar is coiling at a level in the trend direction. The more of the trend leading into the inside bar that is visible in the image, the more complete the read.

Is there a free trial for inside bar grading?

Yes. New users get two lifetime chart analyses. The first shows the full output so you can see exactly what the inside bar grade returns; the second is gated to show what the paid product adds. No credit card required.
