Grade the VWAP rejection before you short the rally.
Upload an intraday chart where price is trending below VWAP and rallies up into it, and get a read on whether VWAP held as resistance, the rejection candle, the volume on the rally and on the rejection, and a full short trade plan, so a clean rejection and a rally that is about to reclaim VWAP get scored differently.

Quick answer
What is a VWAP rejection, and can AI grade it?
A VWAP rejection is a with-trend short: price is already below VWAP in a downtrend, rallies back up to test the line, and fails there, closing back below VWAP instead of reclaiming it. VWAP acts as resistance, and the short gets a better price than chasing the breakdown, with the downtrend still intact.
The clean version has four parts you can see on the chart. First, the trend: lower highs and lower lows with price under a falling 9 and 20 EMA and under VWAP. Second, the rally: a few small green candles drifting up into VWAP on lighter volume. Third, the rejection: a wick into or just through VWAP and a close back below it, ideally a red candle on rising volume as sellers step back in. Fourth, the risk point: a stop above the rejection high or above VWAP, with targets at the prior low and below. SnapPChart grades that exact setup from the screenshot you upload: it reads the VWAP line you plotted, the downtrend structure, the rally, the rejection candle, the 9 and 20 EMA context, and volume on both legs, then returns a setup grade and a take, wait, or skip call. When the setup qualifies, it adds a short entry on the rejection or on a break of the rejection candle's low, a stop above the rejection high, and multi-target exits; a skip names what is missing. Every grade includes the case against the trade. It reads the image only. It does not stream a live VWAP, watch the tape, scan for setups, send alerts, or predict the next candle. Individual stocks are graded on the full A+ to F scale; futures, forex, crypto, index, and metals charts are capped at B. This is a continuation short, not a call to fade an uptrend: if price was holding above VWAP, the setup is a different trade.

Workflow
Use it as a quality check before the short
Plenty of rallies into VWAP do not reject. They close above the line and turn into a reclaim. SnapPChart gives you a consistent read on whether this one actually failed at VWAP before you put the short on.
- Plot VWAP and the 9 and 20 EMA, with volume visible, on a 1 or 5 minute chart
- Screenshot once price has rallied into VWAP from below and the candle has closed
- Check the downtrend first: lower highs, lower lows, price under falling EMAs
- Confirm the rejection candle closed back below VWAP instead of only wicking
- Compare volume on the rally into the line with volume on the rejection
- Skip the short when the grade flags a close above VWAP or buying volume picking up
Head to head
SnapPChart vs a general AI chat assistant for VWAP rejection shorts
A general AI tool can say that price is under VWAP, but it will not check the downtrend, the rally into the line, the rejection candle, and the volume on both legs to the same standard every time. SnapPChart runs the same short-side checklist on every chart you upload, so a clean rejection and a rally that is about to reclaim VWAP do not get the same benefit of the doubt.
| Feature | SnapPChart | General AI chat assistant |
|---|---|---|
| Grades the VWAP rejection short on your screenshot | Yes, every upload | Inconsistent |
| Confirms price was below VWAP in a downtrend before the rally | Every grade | Rarely |
| Reads whether the candle closed back below VWAP or only wicked | From the image | Varies by prompt |
| Compares volume on the rally into VWAP with volume on the rejection | Every grade | Rarely |
| Flags a close and hold above VWAP as a failed short | Every bear case | Rarely flagged |
| Short entry, stop above the rejection high, downside targets | Yes | Prompting required |
| Same criteria on every rejection | Fixed methodology | Varies by session |

What do traders ask about VWAP Rejection AI?
How SnapPChart grades a VWAP rejection short from your screenshot.
How does the AI grade a VWAP rejection?
It reads the VWAP line you plotted, checks that price was trending below it before the rally, and looks at the candle reaction at the line: a wick into VWAP and a close back below it grades better than a candle that closes above. It factors the 9 and 20 EMA slope and the volume on the rally and on the rejection into the grade, then returns a setup grade and, when the setup qualifies, a short entry, a stop above the rejection high, and downside targets.
What is the difference between a VWAP rejection and a VWAP bounce?
They are the same idea seen from opposite sides of the line. A VWAP bounce, in its long form, is an uptrend where price pulls back to VWAP and holds above it. A VWAP rejection is the short mirror: a downtrend where price rallies up to VWAP and fails below it. Both are continuation trades that need the trend to be in place first. The rejection page exists for the short side specifically, with the stop above the line and the targets underneath.
Is a VWAP rejection a reversal trade?
No. It is a continuation short inside a downtrend that is already established. The grader does not try to call a top in an uptrend. If price had been holding above VWAP all session and you want to short the first touch from above, that is a different trade and the grade will not treat it as a VWAP rejection.
Where do the entry, stop, and targets go?
Common practice is to enter on the close of the rejection candle back below VWAP, or on a break of that candle's low for extra confirmation. The stop goes above the rejection candle's high or above VWAP, whichever gives the idea room to be wrong. First targets are usually the prior swing low or the low of day, with a further target below that. SnapPChart returns its own levels from what the chart shows, and flags when the reward to the first target is too small for the risk.
Does SnapPChart read live VWAP, scan for rejections, or send alerts?
No. It reads the VWAP line drawn on the screenshot you upload, not a live VWAP feed. It does not scan the market for rejections, does not watch the tape, and does not send alerts. You find the setup, plot VWAP so it is visible, screenshot the chart, and upload it. The grade reflects the picture you give it.
What makes a VWAP rejection fail?
The usual failure is a close above VWAP that holds, which turns the rejection into a reclaim. Other warning signs are tight chop right under the line, buying volume picking up on the rally, or a rally so strong it has already pushed the 9 EMA flat. The grade drops on these and the case against the trade calls out the reclaim risk.
Is there a free trial for VWAP rejection grading?
Yes. New users get two lifetime chart analyses. The first shows the full output so you can see exactly what the rejection grade returns; the second is gated to show what the paid product adds. No credit card required.
